Classes start for children as young as 3. We offer weekly and weekend classes and offer specific classes in accordance to your child’s age or experience in capoeira.

 

Capoeira originated in Brazil, and is a dynamic expression of Afro-Brazilian culture. Today it can be found in many countries throughout the entire world. Crossing many facets of personal expression, it encompasses its own philosophy, history, culture, and music while developing a strong sense of community amongst it’s participants.

 

Pre-Capoeira exposes children ages 3-5 to the cultural art form of Capoeira. Our Pre-Capoeira program is designed to introduce the many elements of Capoeira to the children in an animated and supportive way that is age appropriate.

 

In pre-Capoeira we do not emphasis the mastery of specific skills, but rather introduce to your child a dynamic cultural expression that includes movement, music and ritual.  As Capoeira teachers we understand that learning happens with all five senses and expression comes through movement, music, and song. Our goals are: to encourage a willingness to explore space with the body; to generate a greater familiarity with interacting and observing in groups and pairs; and to have fun expressing oneself through movement and music.
